Building in Indianola and Warren County

Indianola is the Warren County seat with about 15,833 residents. The city runs its own building department. Call 515-961-9430 to confirm requirements before you set a schedule.

Indianola is a college town, and that gives it a housing mix most towns this size do not have. There are well-kept century homes near the square and Simpson campus, a large mid-century belt, and newer construction on the north side toward the metro. Each era needs a different first conversation.

Near the square the homes are worth the effort but they hide things. Cast-iron waste lines, galvanized supply, and undersized service panels are common in pre-1970s construction here, and any of the three can change a kitchen budget.

Footings must reach 42 inches minimum to sit under Iowa’s frost line. On a century foundation we verify what is actually there before tying new structure into it.

We build across Warren County. Homeowners in Norwalk, Carlisle, Martensdale, and New Virginia call us for the same work.

Permit rules and fees change. Confirm current requirements with the City of Indianola before you commit to a budget or a timeline.
